Summer 1 - Week 5

Date: 17th May 2026 @ 5:59pm

This week sunshine have really enjoyed our topic in Maths, 'weight'. We encouraged the children to collect a range of different items from around the room and first they would make predictions on which they thought were the heaviest and lightest. The children then tested their theories using the weighing scales and shown good knowledge of what happened to the scales to highlight which object was heavier than the other.

We have introduced a new book to the children in English this week called 'There's a range of-tan in my bedroom'. Where we started to explore pollution and how this effects animals. The children talked about what they would do if they found an organgutan in their bedroom and how they might help the animals to protect their homes. We around going to continue looking the environment and what we can do to help save the planet in the coming weeks.

In food tech this week this children made their own fruit crumble, linking this to our maths topic the children used the weighing scales to measure out the ingredients we needed. The fruit crumble was very delicious and some of the children enjoyed eating it after it was cooked.

The children have been continuing their plants topic in science and this week the children got to evaluate the plants they had grown and what differences they could observe between the plants that had, had sunlight and water compared to those that hadn't. The children applied their knowledge they had learnt over the previous weeks to be able to talk about why the plants looked so different.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.
