Summer 1 Week 4

Date: 8th May 2026 @ 4:13pm

As part of our phase one phonics we have continued with our matching games as well as exploring ‘finding one the same’. The children have been given an animal and they have to find the same animal out of a choice of three.

In maths, we continued working on our numbers 1-10 through songs, interactive games and using physical objects to support. The children have used numbered cars and placed them into the correct numbered car parking space.

In identiplay, we have been focusing on the animal set. The children are encouraged to follow a series of one step instructions by the adult e.g “ cow - walk ”. The children can then begin to implement this within the classroom during play.

In our afternoon sessions our main focus has been planting flowers. The children have used a communication board to support them planting some sunflower seeds for us to observe growing.

On Friday, we celebrated David Attenborough’s 100th birthday! We dedicated the day to lots of animal and nature based activities. It was also lovely to see the children dressed up for the occasion.

Bernice was our star of the week for engaging well in a range of identiplay activities. Well done Bernice!

Have a lovely weekend,
