Summer 1 Week 2

Date: 24th Apr 2026 @ 4:12pm

The children in Sunshine have had a busy week this week!

In English this week we have planted our own cress plants and throughout the week the children have been observing the changes they have made and writing about what they can see. Additionally the children have been introduced to colourful semantics which is a colour coded sentence building structure relating to their plants.

We have seen some fantastic progress within maths this week where we have been looking at addition, the children have really enjoyed using the carpet square number lines to help them work out their sums.

We have continued with our 'Van Gogh' topic in art this week and the children made their own interpretations of the famous 'Sunflowers' painting.

In cooking this week the children have made their own fruit kebabs! Firstly they decided what fruit they would like to place on their kebab using a gluing and sticking activity before making the real thing! The children used their pictures as a guidance and could thread the fruit onto their kebab's before getting to enjoy eating them.

We have also made the most of the lovely weather we have had this week spending more time outside with the PE equipment and bikes!

Have a lovely weekend Sunshine!
