Summer 1 Week 1

Date: 17th Apr 2026 @ 4:05pm

In English this week we have been looking into the different parts of plants and the children have been developing their fine motor skills, using the scissors to cut and label their own plant. In maths we have introduced 'more and less' when looking at numbers and also discussed the 'crocodile method' and how the crocodile likes to eat the bigger numbers.

During Art this week, the children have been introduced to the artist 'Van Gogh' and have been exploring some of his work and learning some fun facts about him! The children then went on to make their own interpretations of Van Gogh's paintings, mixing their own colours and making individual paintings.

To also support our English work in Science we are looking at plants and exploring growth and changes. This week the children took part in an environmental hunt in the outdoors, took cuttings from the herb plants in school and were also exploring a large tuff tray with different things we can grow and matching those to their corresponding label.

The children received a very special treat this week with a visit from Madeline Linley where the children recieved their own choice of book!

Also the children loved their cooking class making butterfly cupcakes but I think their favourite part was definitely eating them.

Hope you have a lovely weekend!
