Spring Term 2 Week 3

Date: 13th Mar 2026 @ 3:33pm

As part of our phonics focus we have been exploring some environmental sounds. This week the children have explored different musical instruments and the sounds they make.

In maths this week we have been looking at big and small. The children have explored objects and adults have modelled the vocabulary “big” and “small” with visuals to support. We then moved on to sorting the objects into either big or small groups.

In identiplay, we have been focusing on man and car. The children are encouraged to follow a series of one step instructions by the adult e.g “push car”. The children can then begin to implement this within the classroom during play.

Our afternoon sessions this week have been arts and crafts based. Our main focus has been Mother’s Day where the children created their own Mother’s Day cards. The children personalised their cards by using their hand print to create a flower.

On Wednesday, our reception children had a visit from little bikers and we are now fortunate enough to have our very own balance bikes which all of our class can enjoy.

On Thursday the class had their pony therapy session. This week, we recapped everything we had previous learnt about the ponies using visuals to support. The class were then able to spend some time to freely explore the ponies.

Finally, Leoniz was our star of the week for engaging well in maths (sorting big and small objects). Well done Leoniz!

Have a lovely weekend,

Starburst Team
