Spring 2 Week 1
Date: 2nd Mar 2026 @ 2:15pm
As part of our phonics focus we have been exploring some environmental sounds (Animals). The children have explored four different animals, the sounds they make and the signs for the animals.
In maths this week we have been looking at matching. We have been matching two of the same objects together using the physical object, signs and photographs.
In identiplay, we have been focusing on playdough. The children are encouraged to follow a series of one step instructions by the adult e.g roll the playdough. The children can then begin to implement this within the classroom during play and our whole class playdough sessions.
Our afternoon sessions this week have been sensory food play based. Our main focus has been pancakes, as well as having these for snack, the children have also helped to make their own and had fun trying to flip them
In our P.E session this week we focused on gross motor skills and hand/eye coordination. We had lots of fun using the equipment in the hall and having a turn at throwing the basketball into the hoop.
On Tuesday, our reception children had their first visit from little bikers. The children were encouraged to out on their helmets and got the opportunity to ride around the playground.
In our pony therapy session the children were able to spend some time interacting with the ponies and exploring the parts of the body we had learned about the week before.
Kameel was starbursts star of the week for independently counting up to 20 during play. Well done Kameel!
