Parent reading workshop
Date: 22nd Oct 2026 @ 9:37am
On Tuesday 20th October, we held a successful Parent Reading Workshop, bringing together children and their families to celebrate the joy of reading.
The workshop began with a selection of familiar nursery rhymes, highlighting how songs, rhymes and repetition help children develop early reading skills. Parents then joined us to explore our class text, Wonder, where we shared ways to make reading more interactive and enjoyable. Through drama activities based on the story, we demonstrated the importance of asking questions, discussing characters and events, and engaging children in meaningful conversations about what they read.
The session also emphasised the vital role reading plays in supporting children's language development, imagination and overall learning. Parents were given practical ideas for making reading at home a positive and enjoyable experience.
To finish the workshop, children had the opportunity to choose a book to share with their parents from our school library. It was wonderful to see families reading together and enjoying books in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Thank you to all the parents who attended and helped make the workshop such a success. We look forward to continuing our partnership in developing a love of reading in every child
