Autumn week 5 and 6

Now the children are settled in Sunshine they have really gained a great understanding of our daily routines. There are several things we do every day alongside out English, Maths and Phonics.
As part of our morning routine the children engage in 'Bucket Time' this is where the children are learning how to engage as a class. The children watch closely and comment on what the adult finds in the bucket and then watches them do a short activity. We don't get a turn everyday which can sometimes be a bit difficult but this is something we are working on.
We also have daily phonics where some children are learning new sounds while others are focusing on sounds we hear everyday in different environments like out on a walk and at the farm.
The children are really enjoying our story times at the end of each day and have even started going to the school library to choose books. The children love adults sharing these stories back in class with them. It is great to see the children's love of reading.
Each week we have a 'core word' of the week. The children learn what the symbol looks like and what it means as well as the sign to go along with this. So far the children have learnt want, more, help, finished and yes. The children have really enjoyed the activities we have done linked to the core word.
