Autumn 1 Week 7
Date: 16th Oct 2026 @ 3:22pm
In phonics, the children have been focusing on finding the ‘odd one out’. The children have been shown objects, images and symbols to support them with this. In addition, adults have modelled the vocabulary ‘same’ and ‘different’ using core boards to support.
In maths, the children have been focusing on the number song ‘5 green bottles’. We listened to the song as a whole class, taking it in turns to knock a bottle off the wall. The children then had the opportunity to engage with an adult on a 1-1 basis to complete their work task.
In English, we have been focusing on the book ‘We all have bellybuttons!”. In the story there are lots of actions for the children to copy e.g clapping our hands and shutting our eyes. We then explored our different body parts through a range of activities e.g tasting with our mouths and looking with our eyes.
This half term in topic we are focusing on ‘me and my body’. This week we recapped our learning from the previous weeks by revisiting different activities we have taken part in during our topic sessions.
In our food lesson this week we made pizza pittas. The children went over to our kitchen to select their pizza toppings using a communication board. Then, the adult cooked the pizza to perfection ready for the children to enjoy.
Charlie was our star of the week for using a communication board to communicate his needs to adults. Well done Charlie!
Have a lovely weekend
