Autumn 1 Week 5

Date: 2nd Oct 2026 @ 3:53pm

In phonics, the children have been using games to explore matching. The children have placed two identical jigsaw pieces together in order to create  piece of fruit/veg. Adults have modelled the language ‘same’ and ‘different’ in order to help the children find the correct pieces.

In maths, the children have been focusing on the song ‘five little men’. We listened to the song as a whole class before the children had the opportunity to engage with an adult on a 1-1 basis to complete their work task.

In English, we have been focusing on ‘things I wear’. The children been focusing on following instructions for getting dressed (e.g hat on). As well as this the children have had the opportunity to access other activities in the classroom such as dressing up and hanging out washing.

This half term in topic we are focusing on ‘me and my body’. This week we focused on our faces and the children got to explore their faces through different mirrors within the classroom. The adult supported the children in labelling the different features on their faces.

In our food lesson this week we made vegetable wraps. The children had a communication board to help them decide which filling they wanted to pick. They then had the opportunity to taste their wraps back in class.

Musa was our star of the week for his enthusiasm to learning. Well done Musa!

Have a lovely weekend
