Autumn 1 - Week 3

Date: 21st Sep 2026 @ 1:09pm

In Sunshine we have been working hard on building up our hand muscles to help with our mark making.

The children enjoy daily dough disco sessions where they need to manipulate the dough in different ways using both of their hands. This is done to music and the children are getting very good at splatting, pinching and rolling the dough. We also have play doh out as part of our table top activities once a week where the children are free to use cutters, rollers and other resources in their dough play.

Our weekly Art sessions allow the children to explore different painting tools, colours and making marks with more control. Here the children are also encouraged to make choices with the colours and tools they are using.

We like to get messy in Sunshine! The children like mark making in lots of different materials such as flour, gloop and shaving foam. They once again practice using both hands and making marks that the adults model.
