Consultation open - Proposal to change the age range of Greenfield Primary Academy, Queen Street, Hyde SK14 1QD

CONSULTATION DOCUMENT – Please read carefully

Introduction

Greenfield Primary Academy is proposing to make an application for ‘Significant Change’ to the Department for Education (DfE) to extend its age range from 3 - 11 years to 2 - 11 years from September 2025.

As part of the consultation process and legal requirements, we are writing to parents and the local community to seek feedback regarding the proposed changes. The consultation process will begin on Tuesday 10th June and will end at 5pm on Tuesday 1st July.  Further details of the proposal are provided on the Academy and the Harmony Trust website. Following this period The Harmony Trust will then consider comments received during the consultation period and include them in its application to the DfE.

What is being proposed?

Greenfield Primary Academy currently has a pupil admission number of 30 children per year group. Under the proposals, this will remain unchanged. We currently admit children from the term after their third birthday as part of our Nursery Provision. Under the proposals, this will change and will allow us to admit children from the term after their second birthday as part of the Nursery Provision, for those entitled to the early years funding to families of 2-year-olds.  We intend to make 15 Full time (30 hours) / 30 part time places (15 hours) available. The proposal supports the Government’s plan to extend the Early Years Entitlement and extended childcare offer.

The benefits of this are strong links between parents, the community and the school, and improved continuity of educational provision resulting in better outcomes for the children.  It is envisaged that there would be no impact on the Academy, the children, the environment or the local community. It is also envisaged that due to the Local Authority population projection and analysis of provision requirements, there would be no impact to other similar local providers and the placement of children would remain a parental preference.

For children who are admitted to Reception this will remain unchanged and will continue to be admitted following the admissions policy.
