As part of our phonics focus we have been exploring some environmental sounds (musical instruments). The children explored four different musical instruments and the sounds they make.

In maths, we have continued to explore numbers through song. This weeks song was ‘10 green bottles’ The children have been encouraged to take a bottle away in time with the song. We have engaged in the song as a whole class and have also recapped our previous learning, listening to the other number songs we have learnt this half term.

In identiplay, we have been focusing on the sea. The children are encouraged to follow a series of one step instructions by the adult e.g putting the fish in the water and saying “swim swim swim”. The children can then begin to implement this within the classroom during play.

Our afternoon sessions this week have been based on the Chinese new year and these have involved both arts and crafts and sensory food play. The children have used red and gold colours to decorate Chinese lanterns and have been able to taste and explore a variety of Chinese foods. It was also lovely to see our children wearing red and gold colours to join in with the celebrations!

On Thursday, we had another visit from our therapy ponies. This time we have been learning about the different body parts of the ponies by brushing.

Arlo was starbursts star of the week for engaging well in adult led activities. Well done Arlo!

Have a lovely half term, we look forward to having you all back after the break.
