Spring Term Week 5

As part of our phonics focus we have been exploring some environmental sounds through a song in the tune of ‘Old McDonald’. The children were allowed to explore the different objects hidden in the box and the sounds they make.

In maths, we have continued to explore numbers through song. This weeks song is ‘5 little speckle frogs’. The children have been encouraged to take one frog away in time with the song. We have engaged in the song as a whole class and individually at the workstation with an adult.

In identiplay, we have been using a man and a car. The children are encouraged to put the man on top of the car following a script. This is to encourage the children to play and follow a one step instruction.

Our afternoon sessions this week have been arts and crafts based. The focus has been valentines as next week we will be focusing on the Chinese new year! The children have used shades of red and pink to create some valentines artwork and they have had lots of fun creating these.

On Thursday, we had a wonderful visit from our therapy ponies. The children were introduced to the ponies in pairs and got the opportunity to stroke them, brush them or even put a ribbon in their hair!

Marvel was starbursts star of the week for engaging well in our number song this week. Well done Marvel!
